Reply sought on bail plea

A Judicial Magistrate on Monday sought report from Sundar police on a bail application filed by two person accused of  emasculating and blinding a 9th class student, Aish Muhammad.

The court has directed police to submit report by June 20 (today) on bail application filed by accused including Hanif and another.  Previously, an Anti-terrorism Court had dropped ATA charges against the accused.   Muhammad Hanif, Shan, Sohail and others were booked by Sundar Police under Section 324 of PPC and ATA sections on the complaint of victim’s father, Muhammad Javed. The applicant alleged that his son Aish Muhammad, and his friend Waqar, were heading home on a motorbike from a private academy when four unidentified people intercepted them and started beating them.

 

Quran Khawani

Quran Khawani will be held on the death anniversary of the late Muhammad Khalilur Rehman after Zohr prayers at 20/137 Nisbat Road on Tuesday (today). Khalil was Director Bureau of National Reconstruction, founder member of Halqa Arabab-i-Zouq and Sondhi Translation Society, Government College, Lahore, Secretary Writers Guild and Majlis-e-Fikr-o-Nazar.

 

Transfers, postings notified

The Punjab government on Monday issued notification regarding promotion, transfer and posting of following officers.  According to the notification, Ghazi Amanullah Khan, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and Khalid Mehmood have been promoted to grade 20 and posted as Member Board of Revenue.  Meanwhile, Sohail Shahzad (OSD) has been posted as Member BOR and OSD Capt ® Javed Akbar as Member Colonies BOR. Moreover, the Punjab government approved one year more leave for Hina Parvez.

 

 

CM condemns London attack

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has condemned the incident in which a van ploughed into the Muslims coming out of Masjid near Finsbury Park in London, UK.   He has expressed his sympathies with the people affected in this incident and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.

 

PML-Q office-bearer

Pakistan Muslim League-Q senior central leader and former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has handed over notification of PML-Q Lahore Vice-President to Chaudhry Ashfaq Warraich.  Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Q  leader and former MNA Mian Munir, Ch Muhammad Ashfaq Warraich, Ch Azam Warraich and Ch Mehfooz Warraich called on Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at his residence here Monday. In their meeting, Ch Pervaiz Elahi guided Ch Ashfaq Warraich as how to make party more active.

 

Nursing students greeted

Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital (PGMI/LGH) Principal Prof Ghiyas un Nabi Tayyab has congratulated the students and teachers of Nursing School Lahore General Hospital for maintaining their record of attaining 100 per cent results in annual examination.   According to a press release issued on Monday, the principal announced that position holder students would be awarded commendatory certificates very soon.  It may be mentioned that student Aysha Zarif got first position in class four while Asima Frid and Kiran Basharat won second and third positions, respectively. Students Arfimia Server and Samina Lal Din also got prominent positions.  Prof Tayyab hoped that students would continue services in practical life with the same consistency and dedication as they showed during nursing training course.

 

 

Three Eid holidays announced

The Punjab government has announced three holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr and in this regarding a notification was issued on Monday.   According to the notification, the provincial government has announced three holidays from Monday (June 26 to June 28) to Wednesday.   Eidi: Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) Vice Chancellor Dr Uzma Qureshi awarded Rs 2,000 Eidi to each grad-IV employees of the university.  An event to distribute Eidi was held at the university which was attended by employees and officials.  In her message, the VC said all legal demand of employees would be presented in syndicate meeting for approval. An employee’s welfare fund has been set up in the university to provide funds for their inevitable needs, she added. The VC said residential quarters of employees would be repaired and renovated. 

 

Training for women concludes

A programme for working women to orient them on corporate governance, and certify them to serve as directors of public sector companies, was conducted at Punjab Commission on the Status of Women under the “Women in Leadership” project. The core purpose of this four–day training programme was to enhance the skill set for professional women, orient them on corporate governance, and certify them to serve as directors of public sector companies. The training was attended by 10 women who are affiliated with various companies in public and private sectors.Modules covered in the programme included formulation and implementation of strategy, financial management, sustainable reporting, dealing with related parties and communicating with auditors, board and legal compliance and board performance and evaluation.  Addressing on the occasion, Punjab Commission on the Status of Women chairperson Fauzia Viqar stressed the need for directors to be well-versed in the areas.
