The police chief of Sindh on Monday called on all officials concerned to work on devising a security plan for Eidul Fitr, which is most likely to fall on June 26.
A police spokesman said Sindh IGP A D Khowaja has called for a security plan to be formulated at the police range level, keeping in view the prevailing law and order situation and existent security strategy.
The IGP’s instructions also focused on effect implementation of all aspects of the security plan. Khowaja said there should be coordination and liaison with other law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
The provincial police chief instructed that foolproof security must be ensured at all Eid congregations, whether at open places, parks, mosques and imambargahs.
He also stressed on effective security at public places including shopping centres, Eid bazaars, railway stations and bus terminals. All officers have been told to increase patrolling by police mobiles and motorcycle units, while SSPs have been told to liaison with notables and prominent religious and social personalities of their respective areas.
Steps should also be taken against objectionable wall chalking, posters and pamphlets, the IGP said, adding that central control rooms at the police range level should also be part of the security plan.
