KU ICCBS gets ISO 9001:2015 Standard for all five of its research units

The International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has acquired ISO 9001:2015 Standard for its all five research units, an official announced on Monday.

He mentioned that the Bureau Veritas Certification Pakistan Branch certifies that the management system of the ICCBS had been audited and found to be in accordance with the requirements of the management system standards of ISO 9001:2015.

ICCBS ICCBS Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, while speaking at a meeting held at the centre, briefed the officials about this development.

He said that all the academic, research and administrative departments had been included in the audit scope of ISO 9001-2015. They are: HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research, Third World Centre for Chemical Sciences, LEJ National Science Information Centre and Industrial Analytical Centre.

He observed that the ICCBS was the only institution that was not only certified by ISO, but it had also become ‘Unesco Centre for Excellence Category-2 Institute’, an honour for the country.

He said that the ICCBS was among the leading centres of excellence in chemical, biological and biochemical sciences in Pakistan.

It was serving as a centre for research and training of scholars from various countries of the world.

The facilities at the ICCBS were at par with research establishments in the West, he added.

He also appreciated the efforts contributed by the faculty, research officers and staff for taking the international centre on this highest point.   

Karachi University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan and Higher Education Commission former chairman Professor Atta-ur Rahman, congratulated the ICCBS director, faculty, research officers and staff on this highest achievement, and declared it an honour not only for the university but also for the whole nation.
