Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) provincial lawmaker Jamal Ahmed survived an apparent gun attack outside his house in the Shadman area on Saturday.

According to Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan SHO Abdul Ghafar Sindhu, the MPA said in his statement to the police that he had just left his house when two motorcycle riders started chasing his car. Ahmed said that when his driver tried to speed away, the pillion rider opened fire at his vehicle.

SHO Sindhu said the police had retrieved CCTV footage in which the suspects could be seen opening aerial fire. He added that the two then ran away, leaving their motorcycle behind.

SSP (Central) Muqadas Haider said the police had seized one empty shell of a 30-bore pistol from the scene. He said the police were investigating whether or not it was an attack. He said that there was a huge distance between Ahmed’s four-wheeler and the  motorcycle riders.

The MQM-P condemned the attack on its MPA and demanded of the law enforcers to bring the culprits to justice.
