KP governor asks Pesco to ensure minimum loadshedding in province

PESHAWAR: Taking notice of unscheduled loadshedding, Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Tuesday directed the authorities of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) to ensure minimum power outages in the province.

He said that Pesco authorities should make their administration more transparent and responsible to improve their performance. He said that less loadshedding should be observed during Ramazan.

The governor expressed these views while chairing a meeting with Chief Executive Officer Pesco and their concerned officials, said a handout. The meeting was briefed by Pesco chief Shabbir Ahmed.

He said that power theft and line losses were two major issues. However, he said those who were paying their electricity bills regularly should be exempted from prolonged loadshedding.The governor directed the officials concerned to take strict action against the corrupt elements in the administration. Moreover, he said that people would not suffer during Ramazan.

“It’s the policy of the government to solve the problem of power outages as soon as possible and no stone should be left unturned while resolving the issue of unscheduled loadshedding,” the governor added.
