Power outages
Although the authorities claimed that there will be no power disruptions during Sehri and Iftar, citizens across the country have been facing unannounced loadshedding since the first day of Ramazan. Many areas witness 10 hours of power outages in a day, creating extreme difficulties for people.
In an attempt to justify power outages, the concerned authorities said that loadshedding will depend on the recovery of bills. If less than 50 percent of bills are recovered from an area, the area will have maximum loadshedding. Almost all citizens pay their bills regularly. The correct measure should have been to identify those who are involved in power theft and penalised them. The administrators of areas where power theft is high should be taken to task instead of punishing the other 50 percent consumers who pay their bills regularly.
