ANF seizes drugs worth Rs4.492 billion in six countrywide raids
Rawalpindi: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), in six countrywide operations, recovered 2.02 tons of opium, 67 kilograms of heroin and 9.4 kilograms of charas. Rawalpindi: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), in six countrywide operations, recovered 2.02 tons of opium, 67 kilograms of heroin and 9.4 kilograms of charas.
The operations were conducted in Attock, Haripur, Lahore, Sialkot, Khanewal, Pishin and Karachi. Most drugs were destined abroad, the ANF Headquarters said.
The value of recovered drugs is approximately Rs4,492 million in international market. The ANF arrested five persons, including a woman, involved in drug trafficking and seized a vehicle during one of the operations.
The ANF Quetta carried out an intelligence-led operation and seized 2,020 kilograms of opium from Killi Kacch Daman, Tehsil Barshore, District Pishin. The drug consignment was concealed in a seasonal stream situated in the cutting of mountainous terrain far from the inhabited area. Opium was stuffed in 40 sacks, each sack contained 50-51 kilograms of opium.
As per preliminary reports, the consignment was placed at a cache site for handing it over to a narcotics gang. After receipt of safe signals, it was to be shifted to Karachi through RCD Highway for onward smuggling to a foreign destination across the sea.
The ANF Lahore road checking team, on pursuance of an intelligence report, intercepted a trawler (EA-2507-Peshawar) near Khanewal Toll Plaza, GT Road. During search, 61.75 kilograms of heroin was recovered from improvised cavities inside the container fixed on the vehicle. The container was loaded with maize.
The ANF Lahore intercepted a parcel at DHL Courier Service, Sialkot City, and recovered 3.31 kilograms of heroin from it. The parcel was intended for the UK.
The ANF Peshawar, acting on a tip-off, seized an unattended bag from a washroom at the Haripur Railway Station and recovered 8.4 kilograms of charas from it.
The ANF Rawalpindi road checking team at Mullah Mansoor Toll Plaza, GT Road, Attock, apprehended a female passenger namely Abida Bibi after recovery of 1.5 kilograms of heroin from her possession. She was arrested from a passenger van bound for Rawalpindi.
The ANF Karachi arrested two peddlers namely Muhammad Umair and Sumair Ahmed, both residents of Karachi, and recovered 960 grams of ‘charas’.
