Outages, tripping irk people

Overall performance of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) during the holy month of Ramazan was satisfactory but some areas like Barri Imam, Adiala Road, PIA Colony, Range Road, Misriyal, Basali, Tarahiya, Jatta Hathyal and Prime Minister House surroundings are suffering due to unscheduled loadshedding, tripping and low voltage. As a result of low voltage and tripping consumers complained that their electrical appliances are not working properly and sometimes they suffer irreparable damage.

It is also worth mentioning here that Sanjwal Feeder and Adiala Feeder are continuously tripping thus creating hardships for public in this hot and humid weather as consumer remain without electricity for longer hours.

Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) official spokesman Raja Asim Nazir told ‘The News’ that they are strictly monitoring all feeders to provide electricity for maximum duration to public. There are total 1,058 feeders in Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) jurisdiction in which 314 are in Islamabad, 322 in Rawalpindi, 163 in Attock, 70 in Jhelum, 82 in Chakwal and 107 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. “We are strictly monitoring all feeders,” he said. He has admitted that there were faults in Sanjwal Feeder and Adiala Feeder a day back but we have resolved it.

He said that some consumers are facing tripping and low voltage due to major fault in feeders. Otherwise we are strictly observing loadshedding schedule of 4 hours in city areas and 6 hours in village areas, he claimed.

The residents of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are in grip of hot weather facing over 40degree Celsius temperature for some days.

The long hours of unscheduled loadshedding is playing with the nerves of the people already suffering from scorching heat wave during Ramazan.

Water situation is also worst in affected localities where tanker mafia is looting public with both hands. The tanker mafia is selling a tanker at Rs1,000 to Rs1,200.

Talking to ‘The News,’ residents of affected areas said that unscheduled and prolonged power outages, low voltage and tripping have made life of a common man miserable. We are paying electricity bills every month but are not getting electricity in the holy month of Ramazan, they denounced.
