Accountability to strengthen democracy: PTI

Former Punjab governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar has said corruption and terrorism are the same. Both are poisonous for the country and free and fair accountability will strengthen democracy while the nation is united on this demand, Sarwar said in a statement on Monday.   He said rulers should set their priorities by keeping the issues of people in mind so that country can come out of problems. Pakistan Tehreek Insaf is doing politics of principles which will never be compromised, he said.   He said Imran Khan is the only personality who can eradicate problems in Pakistan and the whole nation is united under his leadership to eradicate corruption, unemployment, terrorism and inflation. 

 

Man jailed for blackmailing girl

LAHORE

An Additional District and Sessions Court on Monday awarded one year jail to an accused over charges of blackmailing a girl by making her fake Facebook account.  The court has also imposed a fine of Rs40,000 on the convict, Faheem Islam. The FIA had booked the accused under the Cyber Crime Act. The Federal Investigation Agency's cyber crime wing had arrested Faheem for hacking the Facebook accounts of people and blackmailing them. The suspect also blackmailed people by hacking their accounts and gaining access to their photos and other personal data. He was arrested on a complaint of girl who he blackmailed.

‘Rulers responsible for energy crisis’

Holding the rulers responsible for the prevailing electricity crisis in country, Pakistan People's Party central Punjab president Qamar Zaman Kaira has said the PML-N government has failed miserably in fulfilling its promises with nation.  In a statement issued on Monday, Kaira said that the PPP had taken all possible initiatives to address the energy crisis in the country and situation would have been far better had the rulers not moved court against Pakistan People's Party. He said that rather than making tall claims, the PML-N leaders should take practical measures to resolve energy crisis which had worsened in Ramazan.

 

Expat gets possession of house

With the help of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab, house of a Canada-based Overseas Pakistani woman has been vacated from an illegal possession.  OPC Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti said expatriate Rukhsana Asghar lodged a complaint with OPC that tenant illegally occupied her four-marla house in Gujranwala for the last three years and did not even pay rent of that period. Afzaal Bhatti said the complaint was referred to District Overseas Pakistanis Committee (DOPC) Gujranwala.

 

 

 

NAB arrests ETPB official for fraud

LAHORE

National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Lahore, Tuesday arrested another central accused Faizan Shams, Investment Management Officer, of the Investment Management Unit of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) on charges of being part of Rs1,870 million graft case.  According to a NAB spokesman, accused Faizan Shams was appointed as Investment Management Unit Officer (IMO) in connivance with the main accused Asif Hashmi with other co-accused. He said the accused monitored the whole Rs1,870 million scam deal being an IMO, whereas, the same kept all records/file of the ETPB and M/s high links deal. According to NAB spokesman, on the directives of NAB Lahore, Director General Shahzad Saleem, regarding holding transparent and following merit in each and every case, Faizan Shams was arrested from Lahore and would be produced before accountability court for seeking his physical remand.

 

Impersonation, unfair means cases registered

Two cases of impersonation and three unfair means cases were registered in the ongoing Intermediate Part-I Annual Examination on Monday.  The paper of English was conducted by the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) in its jurisdiction.
