Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders (ICST) on Thursday lauded the Chief Minister of Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for announcing ‘Orange Cab’ scheme for the unemployed youth.
The Punjab Government is set to launch a scheme seeking to provide 100,000 cars to unemployed youth in the province which will not only reduce unemployment but also facilitate the masses, it said.
Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif is well aware of the importance of infrastructure and mobility and he misses no opportunity to help young secure a respectable source of income, said Patron Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders Shahid Rasheed Butt.
He lauded the decision of the chief minister to execute the scheme with the help of digital technology to eradicate the possibility of mismanagement, fraud and corruption.
With the execution of the Orange Cab scheme, the province may see a surge in the number of cars on the streets which will indirectly create thousands of more employment opportunities, he added.
Shahid Rasheed Butt said that all the cabs must be fitted with the CNG which will reduce cost of doing business for taxi owners and also benefit passengers through reduced fare while it will be not harmful for the environment.
The company fitted CNG kits are more reliable as not a single incident has been reported in cars with company fitted kits, he said adding that almost all the recipients of cars will go for the economical fuel and many fall prey to those who sell substandard cylinders and kits which is highly risky.
The business leader said that using CNG will reduce the travelling cost by almost 30 per cent and increase the income of the youth which will improve their standard of living and make debt servicing easy for them.
He said that Yellow Cab scheme was a great success, Punjab government has already given 50,000 vehicles to the youth under Apna Rozgar Scheme improving social status of youth and their families.
Efforts to improve SME sector and provision of tractors to small cultivators at reduced price are laudable moves, he said.
