Illogical move

A lot of trees have been cut down within the compound of the Government Special Education Centre. If the exercise has been done to improve security it seems pointless. Perhaps, the secretaries of Punjab and forest were not informed about the matter. Had they been in the loop, the trunks and branches of the trees would never have been removed in such indecent haste.
It is not only a case of illegally cutting the trees but also pilfering the wood worth tens of thousands of rupees. The authorities should order an inquiry under the PEEDA Act 2006 and initiate proceedings under the anti-corruption laws and Forest Act by registering an FIR against the offenders.
