LAHORE
PAKISTAN Customs, Central Region, held a ceremony to observe the International Customs Day at Wagah Border and destroyed seized contrabands on Monday.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Collector Pakistan Customs Central Region, Rozi Khan Burki, Sector Commander Pakistan Rangers (Sutlej) Brig. Shaukat Zahoor, Collector MCC Lahore Mukaram Jaa, Collector MCC Multan Sarfaraz Waraich, Collector MCC Faisalabad Zahid Khokhar, other officials of the Customs, Federal Board of Revenue, National Logistic Cell, Rangers and media.
The ceremony had two phases. In the first phase, speakers spoke about the role, theme and achievements of the customs. Certificates were also distributed during this phase. In the second phase, seized contrabands and drugs were destroyed. Rozi Khan Burki said the introduction of wee-box system at the airport had been rolled out to Wagah Border as well. Speaking on the occasion, Zahid Khokhar, Collector MCC Appraisement Lahore, said they had conducted this ceremony to renew their resolve on the International Customs Day to fight the menace of smuggling of hazardous goods.
