Dry, hot weather

Dry and hot weather continued to prevail in the provincial capital here Wednesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.  Met officials said continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. They predicted that mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. They added that rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad, Fata and Kashmir. Met officials said during the last 24 hours, rainfall was recorded at Saidu Sharif, Malam Jabba, Kakul, DI Khan, Sibbi, Panjgur, Barkhan and Bhakkar. Wednesday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Sibbi, Sakrund, Jacobabad, Bhakkar and Noorpur Thal where mercury reached 46°C while in Lahore, it was 39°C, minimum was 25.5°C and humidity was 22 percent.

The Department of Statistics and Computer Science of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore organised a two-day training workshop on the uses of “LaTeX” software at City Campus, Lahore.

 

 

Summer vacation in schools from today

Summer vacation in schools  have started officially in the entire province of Punjab from Thursday (today).  According to a notification issued earlier by the Punjab School Education Department, “Summer vacation will be observed in all schools/educational institutions (government/privately managed) in Punjab with effect from May 25 to Aug 14.”  Previously, the Punjab government order summer vacation from June 1 to Aug 14.  The summer vacation has been advanced by a week because of Ramazan.  However, certain private schools have not complied with the notification of the government and the schools are still open.
