RAWALPINDI: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said Saturday that he was offered high level posts during General (retd) Musharraf’s tenure and when he did not budge his constituency was divided but he did not stumble.

He said nobody could buy him till today. He said some people have a contract for doing politics of chaos and agitation.

Such politics and unnecessary confrontation, he said, is poisonous for democracy. This attitude is a big obstacle towards the progress of the country. Chaos and agitation is neither in the interest of democracy nor good for the country. He said that decisions are made by the elected parliament, superior courts and by the people and not in the streets or on the roads.

He said this while addressing different gathering during his visit to his constituencies--NA-52 and NA-53.

The Interior Minister said that nations move forward following the path of democracy and progress. Chaos and agitation push the nations backward by many years. He said that no serious Pakistani would support negativity and politics of allegations. He said that if the country is to be strengthened, we have to promote politics of seriousness and toleration and must reject abusive politics.

The minister visited various areas of his constituencies, including Kheenger, Khasala, Chakri, Chauntra and Saroba.

Various political personalities, including Nazimeen, Naib Nazims and Councilors who earlier were attached to PML-Q, PPP and PTI also announced to join the PML-N during the minister’s visit.

Addressing people of the area, notables and elected leaders, the minister said that performance does not comprise of hollow slogans and aimless speeches, but it depends on practical work. He said that various developmental projects to the tune of over 30 billion rupees in the two constituencies is a manifestation of our commitment, sincerity and resolve to serve the people of the area.

The minister said that those indulged in hollow slogans, tall claims and misleading public have no future.

Those fighting for their survival in 2018 elections would attempt to mislead public. But we have to expose them with our performance and service delivery to the people.

The minister said that our opponents have no agenda but to change their political parties and raise misleading slogans. Those who salute every rising sun and bow their heads at every door cannot be loyal to the public.

Addressing the people, the minister said that even in the most difficult circumstance we have remained steadfast adhering to truth and justice. He said that on national level politics, we have always safeguarded Islam and national interests and on local level, we have always focused on progress and prosperity of the people and have worked for alleviating the backwardness of the area.

He said that contrary to hollow slogans, baseless allegations and fake promises of our opponents, we took practical steps and initiated various projects of motorways, CPEC, roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, electricity, gas and clean water.  These practical steps would bury their schemes in River Swan in every election.
