Police arrest dacoit, three others

SUKKUR: The Khairpur Police claimed to have arrested a dacoit carrying 2 million head money along with three others in a brief encounter. ASP Khairpur Muhammad Imran Mirza briefed the media that during the ongoing operation against criminals on Tuesday in the limits of Faiz Muhammad Bhindo Police Station Rakha Landhyoon, police in an encounter had arrested most wanted dacoit Gulzar Shaikh (alias) Gulli Shaikh who was carrying 2 million head money along with Mithal Kharoos and Faiz Muhammad Naraijo, while the police recovered weapons from their possession.

 

Traffic cop kills ‘deranged man’ in Mardan

MARDAN: A traffic cop allegedly killed an apparently deranged man in front of the City Police Station, the police said. Lal Ghani, a resident of Jamal Garhi, told the police that he was taking his 18-year old son Bilal to a doctor for checkup on his motorcycle. He said that Bilal jumped from the motorcycle near the Town Hall and slapped a traffic constable on duty and started running towards the City Police Station. He added that the traffic constable began chasing his son. Lal Ghani claimed he had beseeched the traffic cop that his son was mentally unsound but he fired at him when his son reached near the police station. He said his son died on the spot. The police registered a case against the cop and arrested him.

       

Karo Kari claims two lives

SUKKUR: An incident of Karo Kari on Tuesday claimed two more lives. According to reports, in village Misiri Wah in Nausharoferoz, accused Zaffar Ali Dahri allegedly shot dead his sister Mst Rasoola for having illicit relations with a man. Police shifted the dead body to the local hospital but failed to arrest the killer. Respectively, in village Daim chohan in Mirpurkhas, the hanged body of a woman Mst Marvi, w/o Bachal Chohan, was recovered from a house. Police shifted the dead body to the local hospital, where Haji Khan, the uncle of the deceased woman, complained to police that she was killed by her husband over the karo kari issue. The police had taken into its custody the husband of the deceased woman. The police said that an investigation was underway, while the arrested alleged killer said that his wife had committed suicide.

 

Drug dealers arrested in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: The Khassadar personnel recovered methamphetamine during raids in different localities in the Landikotal tehsil and arrested four peddlers, officials said on Tuesday. Assistant political agent of Landikotal, Niaz Mohammad, told The News that Khassadars and Levies Force personnel raided different places in Landikotal and recovered methamphetamine (ice) from their possession. The official said that the alleged ring leader of drug peddlers identified as Shahid alias Baora, an Afghan national, was arrested along with three other persons. They were sent to the lock-up for further interrogation, he added. The names of the other arrested persons could not be ascertained till filing to this report.

       

PTI leader says no to alliance with JI

TIMERGARA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Fazal Muhammad Khan on Tuesday said the PTI workers in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would reject electoral alliance with Jamaat-i-Islami in 2018 general election. Addressing a party gathering at Enzaro area of Dushkhel Talash here, he asked the people of Dir to stand up and strengthen the PTI. A total of 250 political workers from the JI, PPP and other parties on the occasion announced to join the PTI. Prominent among them were Bakht Munir, Fazal Akbar, Abdul Zahir, Fazal Amin, Rehman Gul, Syed Ghani and Bakht Taj Khan. 

 

Couple commits suicide in Ghotki

SUKKUR: A couple of Rahimyarkhan comitted suicide in Ghotki. The couple in the limits of Dad Leghari Police station of Dahariki in Ghotki, Abbas Ali and Saima Kamboh, committed suicide by taking a poisonous substance. The cause of the suicide was said to be poverty.

 

CJCSC meets Australian air chief, others

RAWALPINDI: General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, CJCSC, met Australian Chief of Defence Forces Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin in Australia during his official visit, says an ISPR press release on Tuesday.  Matters of mutual professional interests with particular reference to global and regional security environments were discussed. The CJCSC also held separate meetings with other Australian armed forces service chiefs, minister of foreign Aafairs and other Australian officials. Australian dignitaries appreciated high professional standards of Pakistan armed forces and their valued contributions in regional peace and stability.

 

Use of unfair means rampant in intermediate exams

NAWABSHAH: Four impersonators were caught and 185 mobile phones were seized during the board examinations of Class X1 and Class X11 here on Tuesday. Reports said after receiving several complaints of unfair means being used in the examinations, Assistant Commissioner Dr Faisal Saleem paid a surprise visit to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Centre of Khabbar Lakhmir. After thorough analysis of the examination premises, the district administration seized 185 mobile phones from the candidates appearing in the annual board examination, while four persons who were appearing in place of original candidates were also taken into custody.

 

Landlady chops boy’s hand off

SHEIKHUPURA: A landlady cut the hand of a 13-year-old boy for refusing to feed the cattle in the Wahiwala village.  Muhammad Irfan used to work for Chauhdry Shafqat Bibi at Rs3,000 per month, reports Geo News. According to the boy’s mother, around 10 days back, the boy, starving, had refused to feed the animals. On this Shafqat Bibi got enraged and put his hand on in a fodder-cutting machine. The boy was immediately rushed to the hospital but the doctors were unable to fix his hand. Irfan’s family said that they went to file a First Information Report (FIR) but the police kept delaying it.
