UAE Armed Forces Day observed

ISLAMABAD: Guests turned up in large number to commemorate and felicitate on 41st anniversary of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces Day here in a five-star hotel on Friday evening.

They kept on discussing the conspicuous observations of the learned judges of the Supreme Court of the country where they have reprimanded PTI chief Imran Khan without taking his name for attributing false comments to the judges of the apex court.

Khan had alleged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif under the pretext of the verdict of the learned court. The reception was hosted by UAE ambassador Essa Abdullah Al Basha Al-Noaimi and military attaché Brigadier (Staff) Ghanem Al Ali who received the guest warmly at the outer gate. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mahmood Hayat Khan was the chief guest of the reception who performed cake cutting after plying of the anthems of the two brotherly countries.

The reception was also attended by Prime Minister’s National Security Advisor (NSA) General (R) Nasser Khan Janjua, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Secretary Defence Lieutenant General (Retired) Zamir ul Hasan, former Corps Commander and Senator General (Retired) Salahuddin Tirmzi, Saudi Defence Attaché Admiral Nawaf Al-Maliki, ambassadors/high commissioners and defence attaches of several countries.

General Zubair Mahmood Hayat who returned from Saudi Arabia in the wee hours of Friday after performing Umrah and having meeting with Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Ale Saud was receiving felicitation on performance of Umrah. It is understood that he had meeting with former Army Chief General (Retired) Raheel Sharif who is currently in the Kingdom and commanding the 41-Muslim countries alliance force to combat terrorism. General Zubair came down from the dice and his seat and every military attaché present in the reception. To a query from The News General Zubair Mahmood Hayat termed his visit to Saudi Arabia very useful and maintained that “We have special ties with Saudi Kingdom and its leadership.” The guest thoroughly enjoyed the evening where an inspiring documentary pertaining to the performance of the UAE Armed Forces was also shown.
