Chickungunia case being investigated at PIMS

Islamabad

A 45 year-old patient named Safeer was admitted at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) late Thursday night on suspicion of suffering from Chickungunia. A resident of Karachi East, and an advocate by profession, Safeer was on a family visit to Azad Kashmir when he developed symptoms of Chickungunia. He was brought to PIMS, where medical investigations are currently progressing for confirmation of his diagnosis. Safeer developed symptoms of the disease on April 24, 2017 and initially sought treatment in Muzaffarabad. According to the administrator of PIMS, the patient’s condition is stable and he is receiving supportive treatment.

Zardari reaches Lahore

Zardari reaches Lahore: Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians head Asif Ali Zardari on Friday reached Lahore. During his stay in Lahore, he will visit the Nakai family of Kasur to offer condolences over a death besides holding important organisational meetings at Bilawal House.  —Correspondent

 

 

Mercury rises to 39°C in Lahore

LAHORE

Hot and dry weather prevailed in the city here Friday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.  Met officials said a shallow westerly trough is present over upper areas of the country. They predicted that mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most plain areas of the country.  They said light rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at a few places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat divisions, upper Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.  Rainfall was recorded in several cities, including Lasbella, Parachinar, Peshawar, Kamra and Rawalpindi.  Friday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Sukkur and Mithi where mercury reached 44°C while in Lahore, it was 39°C, minimum was 24.2°C and humidity was 16 percent.

 

Inter part II exams start

Intermediate Part-II Annual Examinations 2017 will be commenced by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore, from Saturday (today).  On the first day of the exam, papers of Psychology (morning session) and Home Economics, Applied Sciences and Hematology and Blood Banking (second session) will be held while on May 8 (Monday) paper of English will be held.

 

 

Online portal to purchase Holy Quran launched

A publishing house has launched online purchase portal for facilitating the buyers to get Quran through home delivery service.  The website will facilitate millions of buyers all over the world, said Abdul Malik Mujahid, the CEO of the company known for publishing holy Quran and other Islamic books of international standards, while talking to The News.  Abdul Malik Mujahid said his organisation was publishing holy Quran and Islamic books, including translation of holy Quran in 25 languages, the latest in Chinese language.

Model’s murder case adjourned

LAHORE

Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Ghaffar on Friday adjourned the murder case of model Abeera after summoning prosecution witnesses. The case was adjourned by May 10. As per police investigation, the model was poisoned by her friend Tooba in 2015. The co-accused Farooqur Rehman had purchased poison from accused Hakeem Zishan. While police claimed that Tooba had also confessed to the killing of one Yousaf Khokhar, a cameraman for a TV channel and a friend of her ex-husband.
