LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has called all Pakistan lawyers’ representatives convention to make future strategy on Panama issue against the government.

LHCBA President Ch Zulfiqar, flanked by other bar representatives, said seven-day deadline given to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down had ended but he had not given resignation. To chalk out strategy to force PM to step down, they have convened the convention in Lahore on May 13.

He said every lawyer had affiliation with some political party but their affiliation with bar was above every political affiliation. He dispelled the impression that three out of four LHCBA representatives had affiliation with three opposition parties and were trying to initiate move against the government. He said the bar had no political agenda but it was fighting for rule of law and to oust corrupt rulers for a welfare state. He said they had contacted representatives of all the bars of the country and they were eager to attend the convention. He said that on May 13, after the convention they would announce their agenda against the corrupt government.

Zaheer Butt, finance secretary of the bar, said being a Butt by caste he would prove that every Butt was not a Gullu Butt. Despite being a Butt, he would be at the forefront of the move to oust Gullu Butts, he resolved.

Rashid Lodhi, vice-president of the bar, said LHCBA had become people’s voice. He said being a democratic PM, he should have resigned on their demand.  He said the SC for the first time had raised voice against the corruption and the lawyers were standing in defence of its decision. He said the bar had reservations over JIT as it could not hold impartial investigation against a serving PM.

He said that following the democratic values, the PM should had disassociated himself from the office. Lodhi said the lawyers of Lahore had always initiated successful movements and this move announced by the LHCBA would also be a success by ousting the corrupt ruler.

LHCBA Secretary Amir Saeed Rawn said all the bars of the country had been taken into confidence to convene this lawyers’ convention. He said the PM was a threat to the country. He said Jindal was an Indian agent and why PM had met him secretly. He said Jindal came here to bring back Kulbhushan.
