The healthcare sector of the country needs the immediate attention of the concerned authorities. Government hospitals portray a sad picture of mismanagement. Hygienic conditions are not observed at these facilities. On top of that, overworked staff members tend to misbehave with patients and their attendants. The government needs to realise that a majority of the people cannot afford medical treatment at private hospitals. Although these hospitals provide satisfactory services, they charge an exorbitant fee.
Every year, the media reports many cases that highlight the negligence at government hospitals. However, the government takes no action. Two years ago, when heatwave hit Karachi, a large number of people were brought to government hospitals. They faced even greater difficulties because the hospitals weren’t prepared to deal with this emergency situation.
