Younis makes history

By our correspondents

Younis Khan should be lauded for his marvellous performance throughout his career. His 10,000 test runs tell a tale of persistence, resolution, grit and glory. His career was marked by lots of ups and downs. But he weathered them with patience and courage. Younis Khan’s historic achievement is a matter of pride for the entire nation.

He is the first Pakistani player to cross this gigantic figure. He grabbed this glory in his 208th test match against the West Indies at Kingston, Jamaica, with an average of 53.06. Younis has the privilege of scoring centuries in 11 countries across the globe. During his career, he invariably remained the blue-eyed boy of the chief selectors and he never let them down. Younis is most likely to retire from international cricket after the West Indies tour. It will take a long time to fill the void created by his departure. Nonetheless, his glorious career will serve as a beacon of light for young cricketers who aspire to bring name and fame to our nation.
