Loadshedding

By our correspondents
April 28, 2017

Frequent power outages and loadshedding are common in Pakistan. This affects our industrial sector and as a result our industries production is low. The situation becomes worse in summer. These days, it is 18-hours long loadshedding in villages and 12 to 14 hours long in cities.

The country is likely to experience heatwave in summer. If the prevailing situation exists, many people will be affected. The majority of the people don’t have air conditioners or generators at their homes. The government has to resolve the energy crisis so that our future generations can live in peace.

On Sunday (Apr 23), the PPP held a rally to protest against intermittent loadshedding in Sindh. In the evening of the same day, Minister of Water and Power Khawaja Asif issued a statement in which he dispelled the impression of any injustice against the people of Sindh and said that the provision of electricity is for the areas that have high recovery of electricity bills and low theft.

Society Area in Sukkur falls under the above-mentioned category, but the area is facing more than 12 hours of loadshedding daily. In the mornings, power is out for six hours – from 9am to 3pm – the time when schools remain open. The minister is requested to pay attention to this injustice.
