Process of complaint resolution reviewed

Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Shumail Ahmad Khawaja has said that there is a need for collective efforts to safeguard the rights of overseas Pakistanis, and the role of district administration is pivotal in this regard.

He was presiding over a meeting of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC), Punjab, to review the process of resolution of complaints of expatriate Pakistanis.

OPC Director General Syed Javed Iqbql, Additional Director General Police Matters Agha Muhammad Yousaf and Director Revenue Ishrat Ullah Niazi were present in the meeting while civil and police high-ups and chairpersons of district overseas Pakistanis committees (DOPCs) of Multan division participated in it through video link.

Shumail Ahmad Khawaja said that field officers should ensure at least two meetings of DOPCs in a month and proceedings regarding resolution of complaints be uploaded on OPC web portal regularly. He said that targeted and integrated efforts were needed from the divisional and district field officers to settle the pending issues of expatriate Pakistanis.

OPC Director General Syed Javed Iqbal briefed the meeting on the details of pending complaints of overseas Pakistanis in Multan, Lodhran, Vehari and Khanewal districts.

The additional chief secretary issued instructions  to resolve certain complaints.                       

accidents: At least 608 road accidents were reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service from all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Ten people were killed and 461 badly injured in the accidents. The injured were shifted to hospitals. However, some 202 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by the emergency medical teams.
