Opposition files requisition for NA session

ISLAMABAD: The opposition on Tuesday filed a requisition for the National Assembly session to discuss the petrol crisis that had hit the country. The requisition for the National Assembly session was submitted to the National Assembly Secretariat with the signatures of 95 opposition members of PPP, MQM, Jamaat-e-Islami, PML-Q, Qaumi Watan Party, ANP, Fata and independent members of the National Assembly.
Speaker National Assembly was bound to convene a session within 14 days on submission of the requisition for the National Assembly session under Article 54 (3) of the Constitution.The decision to submit the requisition for the National Assembly session was taken on Monday after the opposition leader in the National Assembly made telephonic contacts with the heads of the opposition parties including MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar, parliamentary leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Sahibzada Tariqullah, chief of Qaumi Watan Party Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi of PML-Q, Parliamentary leader of ANP in National Assembly Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour and Fata legislators and discussed the current petrol crisis in country. During the telephonic conversation, there was unanimity of views among the opposition leaders on taking up the petrol crisis in the National Assembly while agreeing to convene the session in this regard.
