ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is sending proposal to Finance Ministry in which it says that FBR should publish directories of non-filers of tax returns including sales tax, withholding tax and income tax on media and website on May 1, like the directories of tax filers and tax filer parliamentarians which are being published every year and are being lauded across the world.
There is proposal to publish three separate directories with the approval of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and in this connection, the FBR had already collected details and data of non-filers of tax returns from Nadra, power distribution companies, development institutions of whole country like DHA, CDA, KDA, LDA, FDA, SDA, private housing schemes, MDA, QDA, provincial property, vehicles registration offices etc. The information and data of non-filers to tax return have also been gained from banks.
Besides this the details of moveable and immovable properties have also been collected of every Pakistani from departments through Electronically Paral, field formations of FBR and where the CNIC was used.
The FBR also collected data of business people including their names and addresses from Jamal Yellow Page. The documents with names of non-filer Pakistanis will be published in the proposed directory.
It has also been decided that no concession will be given to non-filers of tax returns in any shape, impose heavy plenty, seized bank accounts, confiscate assets and send them to jail. The directory of 2016 will consist on non-filers and tax defaulters. Besides this the separate directories of non-filers of sales tax returns will also be published.
