Lt Gen Azhar appointed Mangla Corps Commander

ISLAMABAD: The newly promoted Lt. General Azhar Saleh Abbasi on Saturday has been appointed as Corps Commander Mangla. Prior to his promotion as three-star general, Azhar Saleh Abbasi was performing as Vice Chief of General Staff at General Headquarters. Lt. General Abbasi hails from Armored Corps.
His predecessor Lt. General Umar Farooq Durrani who is also from Armored Corps has been transferred from 1 Corps (Mangla), one of the two strike corps, to Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) as Chairman.
Lt. General Omar Mahmood Hayat who was serving as Chairman of POF has been transferred and posted as Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). He belongs to the Ordnance Corps.
