FIA admits to illegal appointments before SC
ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has admitted in Supreme Court (SC) to illegal appointments in the department while apex court has issued notices to seven officers seeking written reply from them.
A two-member bench of SC headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmad took up the case of illegal appointments for hearing on Thursday. During the course of hearing, FIA told the court through its written reply that illegal appointments have been made therefore court is requested to declare them null and void.
On the other hand, the counsel for officers while declaring the applicants as habitual petitioner took the plea that filing petitions in the court is the business of applicant. Court should adopt cautious attitude, he said.
Justice Gulzar remarked, “Should we shut down the courts in that situation. You should not convey us what we have to do.” The court while issuing notices to seven allegedly illegally appointed officers of FIA summoned their written reply. The court adjourned the hearing indefinitely.
