Call to promote peace, harmony in country

Speakers at an event held on “Extremism, Civil Society and Peace Keeping” said that effective measures are required to mitigate the recent wave of extremism in different parts of country.

The event was organised by Ecumenical Commission for Human Development in collaboration with Christian Study Centre in pursuit of justice and peace to transform conflict and raise collective voice for promotion of peace and harmony across the country. Nadeem Anthony, a peace activist, addressing on the occasion said the civil and military leadership are on the same page in the fight against terrorism and our law enforcing agencies had rendered significant sacrifices in battling terrorism. Shammas Jalil said civil society organisations could work with public intellectuals, religious scholars, and celebrities to promote religious and social harmony.

Ms Riffat Rasheed, Lecturer at University of Gujrat, said there is a dire need of paying special attention on different experiences of women in peace-building programmes, because they are facing different obstacles in different parts of the country and the government must ensure women included in key peace negotiations at all levels for lasting peace.  James Rehmat called on the state institutions, political parties, media and other stakeholders to play their role to amplify their voice to eliminate different terrorist networks.

result: The University of Health Sciences has announced the result of First Professional Doctor of Physical Therapy Annual Examination 2016. According to a press release issued here on Thursday, 221 candidates from 10 affiliated institutes had appeared in the exam and 184 passed and 37 failed. The overall pass percentage remained 83.26. Rashna Shahzad, d/o Naveed Shahzad, of a private medical college got first position by securing 523/600 marks.

Humna Tariq, d/o Tariq Javeed Bhatti of of the college and Fizza Shahid, d/o Shahid Mehboob of the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of the Disabled, Lahore, got second and third positions securing 510/600 and 499/600 marks, respectively.
