Court grants bail to woman held for cyber crime

SIALKOT: A woman, arrested under the Cyber Crime Law, has secured bail two days after her arrest. Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested Sadia Mirza from Sialkot on March 25. She was charged with blackmailing Ahsan Rana, a resident of London. Hassan Rana, the brother of the victim, filed a complaint with the police and alleged that Ms Mirza had sent messages to Rana over social networking website Facebook, demanding money. As per the FIR, Ms Mirza has been charged with “sending threatening, abusive, and lewd messages.” The case has been registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 – clauses 20 (1) and 24(b)(c). A court, hearing the case, ordered Ms Mirza’s bail against a bond worth Rs200,000.
