A step backward

This refers to the letter, ‘For the elite’ (Mar 24) by Faraz Awan. It mentions that the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced setting up a grand park in Peshawar. While this is a commendable step, the government should first take care of the existing parks that are in a poor state.
Women in Peshawar have very limited recreational facilities. There is only one ‘woman’s-only’ park in Peshawar city area called ‘Parda Bagh’. This park has been long neglected. There is also a wedding hall constructed within Parda Bagh which means the space of the facility and privacy for women has decreased. The KP government is requested to pay attention to Parda Bagh and other such parks in Peshawar before constructing more parks.
