Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar has directed municipal and health authorities to take immediate measures to prevent spread of rabies and control the increase in stray dogs’ population.

Presiding over a meeting at his office on Monday he said remote areas and katchi abadies should be focused upon more since dog-bite cases were regularly being reported from such localities.

Officials of the KMC and experts were urged to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to control the population of stray dogs and prevent spread of rabies.
