ZTBL reach Patron’s Trophy semi-finals

KARACHI: Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) qualified for the semi-finals when they whipped IMEX by 164 runs in their Group B fourth round match of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II at Diamond Club Ground, Islamabad, on Sunday.

This was the fourth successive win which took ZTBL’s points to 37 with a game yet in hand.

ZTBL thus became the second team after State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to progress to the last-four-stage.

Chasing 347, IMEX were bowled out for 182 in their second innings with Mohammad Naqash scoring 51. He hit eight fours from 44 balls.

Sajjad Hussain got 4-31, while Waqas Saleem captured 3-58.

Earlier, after conceding a 49 runs lead, ZTBL resumed their second innings at 147-1 and declared it at 297-5.

Stumper Shakeel Ansar hit a glorious 133, striking ten fours and ten sixes. He faced 186 balls. Saadullah belted 106-ball 77, which featured ten fours and one six. Ali Nasir made 65 off 54 balls, striking six fours and two sixes.

Najam Khan got three wickets and Hashim Malik two.

ZTBL posted 243 all out in their first innings. In response, IMEX made 194 all out.

In an inconsequential Group A outing here at UBL Sports Complex, Haideri Traders recorded their first win when they overwhelmed Pak Saudi by 175 runs.

Chasing 345, Pak Saudi were bowled out for 169 in their second innings with Nadeem Babar scoring unbeaten 84. Najeebullah got five wickets while Mohammad Nadeem captured three.

Haideri Traders, who had gained a 106 runs lead, declared their second innings at 238-5 before the start of the final day’s play.

Haideri Traders piled up 279 all out in their first innings. In response, Pak Saudi staged 173.

At State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Ground here, the outing between Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and Karachi Port Trust (KPT) ended in a draw and the latter took three points due to first innings lead.

After conceding a 26 runs lead, CAA resumed their second innings at 65 without loss and went on to 286-7 till close of the play.

Arsalan Farzand belted 86 off 161 balls, striking 11 fours. Yasir Mushtaq scored 63 with seven fours and one six. Ahmed Iqbal got 4-68.

CAA posted 280-5 in their first innings. In response, KPT made 306 all out.

At Pindi Stadium, Army registered their first win when they defeated POL by six wickets to move to 12 points.

Army chased the 132 runs target in the 33rd over after losing four wickets.

Miqdad Hussain scored a-run-a-ball 47, which featured six fours. Shiraz Khan got two wickets.

POL, who had conceded 58 runs lead, were folded for 190 with Waqar Ali scoring 55. Shoaib Aamir claimed 6-46.

POL scored 272 all out in their first innings. In reply, Army made 330 all out.

At Marghzar Ground, Islamabad, Capital Development Authority (CDA) overpowered Customs by ten wickets.

CDA raced to the 43 runs target in seven overs without losing a wicket.

Having conceded a 154 runs lead, Customs resumed their second innings at 98-3 and were dismissed for 196 with Shahan Akram (54) and Akbar Babar (53) scoring fifties.

Faisal Iqbal and Kamran Hussain got three wickets each.

Customs posted 158 all out in their first innings. In response, CDA made 312 all out.

Higher Education Commission (HEC) defeated Rahat and Shuja Impex by nine wickets in their Group C game at Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala.

Rahat and Shuja Impex posted 194 and 202. HEC made 347-6 and 52-1.

Ghani Glass crushed NADRA by an innings and 89 runs in a Group D game at Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot. NADRA made 263 and 168. Ghani Glass scored 520-8 declared thanks to Haris Nazar’s 234 not out.

Brighto Paints overwhelmed Railways by 227 runs. Brighto Paints made 261 and 283-4 declared. Railways staged 236 and 81 all out with Salman Ali Agha taking 5-34, for a match haul of 13-99.
