Although minorities in the country are protected under the country’s constitution, discrimination against them is increasing at an unprecedented rate. The 2015 Safoora bus attack and the tragic Abbas Town attack display the sad picture of violence against minorities. The Quaid’s vision was to create an egalitarian society – the white in the national flag represents ‘our minority’ – but it is unfortunate that the country still lacks interfaith harmony.
Tolerance and unity are essential traits of a peaceful country. Pakistanis have the following two options. They can either work together to turn the Quaid’s vision into reality or let extremists destroy the country’s peace in the name of religion.
