Army to ensure security of people along LoC: COAS
Says Indian bid to spread unrest in AJK won’t succeed; visits LoC in Kel sector and forward post at Sharda; thanks people for celebrating Pakistan Day
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday said the Pakistan Army would continue to ensure protection and security of the people along the LoC, says an ISPR press release
He said that Indian propaganda regarding presence of miscreants along the LoC is aimed at spreading unrest in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K), which will never succeed. People of AJ&K are fully aware of Indian atrocities in the Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) and Indian agendas. The army chief visited the Line of Control (LoC) in Kel Sector and forward post at Sharda.
General Officer Commanding Murree Major General Azhar Abbas briefed him on the situation along the LoC and ceasefire violations (CFVs) by India in recent months.
The COAS was also apprised regarding army’s support to ongoing housing and population census.
The COAS appreciated state of operational preparedness and response to CFVs.
He also directed to ensure progress and development works in the area in coordination with the AJ&K government.
Earlier, on arrival, the COAS was received by Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lieutenant General Nadeem Raza.
INP adds: Meanwhile, Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has thanked all those who recorded video messages on the Pakistan Day and made “Ham Sub Ka Pakistan” campaign successful. DG ISPR said in a Twitter message on Friday said that the army chief had welcomed the participants of the Pakistan Day ceremony and thanked the media for giving full coverage to the national event.
