Shahbaz links prosperity to transparency

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said merit and transparency is the only way to achieve prosperity and that is why the government has promoted this culture in the province and appointments in all institutions have been made solely on merit.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting to review the performance of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) in which PPSC Chairman Lt-Gen (R) Sajjad Akram presented the performance report for the year 2016.
The chief minister while applauding the entire team said that substantial steps should be taken for strengthening and continual improvement of the commission; it will be equipped with modern technology in order to comply with the latest trends. He directed to convert the whole system to online and facilitate candidates by conducting their interviews through a video link and Skype. He also directed to expand the institution in all mega cities along with regional offices in seven divisions.
According to a handout, the chief minister ordered to establish committees which will not only devise final plan after reviewing all recommendations but also monitor pre-service training, improvement of service rules and other matters concerned. Checks and balances is mandatory for improving the performance of institutions likewise it’s the aim of the Punjab government to bring forward the talented ones and PPSC has to play its effective role in this regard, he added.

Chinese team: A delegation led by Secretary Chinese Communist Party Hubei, Provincial Commission on Discipline Inspection Mr Houchangan called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here Friday. Matters related to mutual interest, CPEC projects, promotion of bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields were discussed in the meeting. Houchangan said Shahbaz Sharif had brought economic stability in Punjab and his revolutionary initiatives for progress of his people as well as zero-tolerance policy against corruption were highly regarded by the people of China.
