Normal trading was witnessed at the Karachi Cotton Exchange on Friday, while spot rates remained unchanged.
The spot rates remained unchanged at Rs6,800/maund (37.324kg) and Rs7,288/40kg. Ex-Karachi rates also stood firm at Rs6,935/maund and Rs7,433/40kg after an addition of Rs135 and Rs145 as upcountry expenses, respectively.
An analyst said the season is almost over, while preparations continued for the new crop. Cotton sowing continued partially in lower Sindh, where harvest of wheat had started, he added. “Some early sowing of cotton was damaged, as well because of unfriendly weather,” he said. “Sowing will start in Punjab after April 15, as the government has banned early sowing because of its being vulnerability against the pest attack.”
