Education for women a must: minister
LAHORE
Punjab Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that education of women is a must for development of society.
According to a press release, she was addressing a symposium on “Psychology for Change: Women and Community” organised by PU Institute of Applied Psychology at Al-Raazi Hall on Tuesday.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir, Ex-Vice Chancellor and eminent psychologist Prof Dr Najma Najam, Faculty of Life Sciences Dean Prof Dr Naeem Khan, Institute of Applied Psychology Director Prof Dr Farah Malik, faculty members and a large number of students were also present. Begum Zakia Shahnawaz said the government was focusing on providing education to every child. Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir said, "If we provide equal opportunity to women to move forward, our country would prosper." Dr Najma Najam said women were active agents of change. She said most decisions made in homes were influenced by women. She said women had multiple roles and were best managers. She said, "Psychologists are taken on board while making policies in the world.
