KARACHI: Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal said on Tuesday he was disappointed at being ignored for Pakistan Cup 2017 for which a draft list of 131 players has been announced.

“Have I lost my arms and legs that selectors have not even considered me for a 131-player draft list for Pakistan Cup?” Ajmal said while talking to reporters here.

He was here for the pre-launching ceremony of an international wrestling competition to be organised by Pakistan-based Pro Wrestling Entertainment.

Earlier on Tuesday, Player Selection Ceremony for the Pakistan Cup 2017 was held in Lahore.

The five participating teams, Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federal and Balochistan, made selections from the 131-players draft.

“I ask PCB to just send me a letter and tell me that I should quit playing cricket,” Ajmal said. “I have played top-class cricket and have performed well in domestic events. I feel disappointed at such treatment despite doing brilliantly for the country in the past,” he added.

He further said that he had also called chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq and told him about his disappointment. “I am running an academy and people come there because they consider me a good cricketer. I at least deserved a place in the draft,” he said.

Ajmal was banned from bowling in international matches owing to his “illegal action” in 2014.

He returned after working on his action but failed to make an impact against minnows Bangladesh and was subsequently discarded.
