The Pakistan Hindu Council, in connection with the Holi celebrations, is organising the 9th annual combined marriage programme at the YMCA Ground opposite the Governor House at 5:30pm today.

This was announced by the patron-in-chief of the organisation, Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, in a press statement issued on Saturday.

Dr Vankwani, who is also a member of the National Assembly, said that Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair, State Minister for Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony Pir Muhammad Amin Ul Hasnat Shah, Pakistan Bait ul Mal Managing Director Barrister Abid Waheed Shiekh, Faisal Edhi, Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Tahir Khalil Sindhu, Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister on Minorities Dr Jeevan Khatumal, the ambassador of Mauritius and other dignitaries will be present on the occasion to bless the couples.

Dr Vankwani said that the constitution of Pakistan ensured religious freedom to the non-Muslim minorities living across the country.

Terming the recently-passed Hindu Marriage Act by the parliament a remarkable achievement, he hoped that such combined marriage ceremonies would also play pivotal role for projecting the positive image of Pakistan on international level.
