Preparations finalised to conduct census in Khyber Agency

BARA: Preparations have been finalised to begin population census in Khyber Agency on April 25 in the second phase of the exercise.

The population census would be carried out in six tribal and six Frontier Regions in the second phase. The census is being conducted in Orakzai Agency in the first phase. Jehanzeb, an official of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistic in Khyber Agency, told The News that arrangements had been finalised to begin census in Khyber Agency on April 25.

He maintained that Khyber Agency had been divided into 670 blocks and 25 circles. "Four officials have been appointed as in-charges while around 430 teachers have been trained to worker as enumerators," he added.

He said the security forces would provide foolproof security to the census teams. Jehanzeb urged the tribespeople to provide accurate data as the figures would be used in the future.

It is worth mentioning here that the 6th population census is being carried out in two phases.

In the first phase started on March 15, the census is being conducted in 16 districts in Punjab, 8 districts in Sindh, 14 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15 districts in Baluchistan, five districts in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, five districts in Gilgit-Baltistan and Orakzai Agency in Federally Administered Tribal Area. The census would be carried out in the remaining parts of the country in the second phase.
