LAHORE

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Tuesday said the party would not let Lahore become a no-go area and resist against wrong acts of the government.

Talking to the media after visiting the residence of the party leader from Lahore Babar Sohail Butt, who was gunned down a couple of days ago, the PPP chairman said it was a matter of concern that still his assassins were at large. He alleged that it had become a tradition under the PML-N rule to target political rivals, but the PPP wouldn’t budge from its stance and would foil conspiracy to turn Lahore into a no-go area.

He alleged that the attack on Shaukat Basra, a senior party leader from southern Punjab, was also an example how opponents were being targeted by the PML-N government.

He offered Fateha and expressed condolence with the family of Babar Butt who was murdered by his gunman. A sitting PML-N, MNA Sohail Shaukat Butt, has also been nominated in the murder case of Babar Sohail Butt.

Besides, Bilawal chaired meeting of PPP leaders from Lahore at Bilawal House and listened to their complaints. He said the PPP would pitch candidates from all seats of Lahore.

Moreover, Shaukat Mahmood Basra, the PPP leader from southern Punjab, in a statement issued on Tuesday said the chief minister, his son Hamza Shahbaz, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and MNA Ejaz ul Haq would be responsible if any attempt was made on his life.

He said he had moved to court as well over the withdrawal of his security despite threats to his life.

Basra, a former MPA, said in the incident in Haroonabad last month, his political secretary Imtiaz was killed and an attempt was made on his life. Despite the lapse of more than one and a half month, the culprits involved in the incidents had not been arrested, he alleged.
