‘Pakistan can’t progress without providing opportunities to women’
LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that a major portion of the population in Pakistan consists of women, and Pakistan cannot move forward without providing equality opportunities of progress and education to them.
He said this while chairing a meeting held on Saturday to review the progress made on different steps to empower women.
He said Pakistani women had brought laurels home with their hard work and dedication. He said that socio-economic empowerment of women was the priority of the government.
Provision of resources for women empowerment is a beneficial investment for the establishment of an enlightened society, he added.
He said the hereditary rights of the women in properties had been safeguarded through legislation. He said a women commission had been constituted for the solution of the issues of women.
Fifteen percent job quota has been reserved for women in public sector departments and they have also been given three-year age relaxation for government employment. He said the women getting education of engineering, medical and other subjects should exhibit their talent in the practical field so that Pakistani society could progress.
