Bestway Cement plans clinker plant

KARACHI: Bestway Cement on Thursday announced to setup a brown field cement plant with a capacity of 6,000 tons of clinker/day at its Farroqia site in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, a bourse filing said. In this regard, the company has signed an agreement with Sinoma International Engineering Company of China. However, the financial details of the project could not be known.

Bestway Cement Limited is part of the Bestway Group of the United Kingdom and is one of the largest cement exporters in the region, it added. The development is being seen as another positive for the country’s booming construction sector that has seen major players announce expansion plans in the wake of increased economic activity under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, as well as increased GDP growth. According to All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), the total installed clinker production capacity is 44.7 million tons/annum as of January 2016, it said.
