Teachers protest rally tomorrow

United Teachers Council (UTC), Punjab, on Sunday announced taking out a protest rally against the School Education Department on Tuesday (tomorrow) for what it termed the department’s unjust and indifferent attitude towards schoolteachers.

In a statement, UTC leaders, including Tariq Mahmood, Hafiz Ghulam Mohiuddin, Hafiz Abdul Nasir and others said more than half of schoolteachers in Punjab were under the threat of PEEDA Act while bureaucracy was never held responsible. They also expressed concern over non-upgradation of posts despite assurances on several occasions and said the schoolteachers would not be satisfied unless the government issued the notification this time. They announced taking out the protest rally from Nasser Bagh tomorrow.

training: Ameer ud Din Medical College and Lahore General Hospital Principal Prof Dr Ghiyas un Nabi Tayyab has said that Punjab government has adopted a result-oriented and effective strategy to impart technical training to the youth in various sectors specially in health sector. "Due to successful policies of the present government, our youth is getting ample opportunities to express talent and potential at various international forums. The importance of paramedics’ training is no less than that of doctors and nurses," Prof Dr Ghiyas un Nabi Tayyab expressed these views while addressing an event organised in honour of the students completing their training course of session 2014-16 from Allied School of Health Sciences, Lahore General Hospital, according to a press release issued here on Sunday.

The function was also attended by LGH MS Dr Ghulam Sabir, faculty members, Allied School Principal Dr Rana Shafique, administrative doctors, nursing administration and students. As many as 81 students of seven different paramedical courses have succeeded. Prof Dr Ghiyas un Nabi Tayyab said that well-trained paramedical staff played a pivotal role in the process of recovery of patients. He stressed upon the students to work with devotion.
