PTI to file reference against MPA for defecting to PSP
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to file a reference in the Election Commission of Pakistan against its provincial assembly member, Syed Hafeezuddin, for defecting to another political party.
Khurram Sher Zaman, an MPA belonging to the PTI, said on Friday that the reference would be filed against Hafeezuddin for joining the Pak Sir Zameen Party (PSP) through floor-crossing.
He said Hafeezuddin had not yet tendered his resignation to the Sindh Assembly speaker.
He said the lawmaker had contested an election on a PTI ticket, but he later joined the PSP, which was a violation of rules and regulations of the election commission.
Through the reference, the PTI would request the election commission to disqualify Hafeezuddin for 10 years from contesting any election.
