Sana for body to review Drugs Act

Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah has said that necessary rules and regulations should be determined by constituting a representative committee comprising five persons of drug manufacturing private institutions associated with health sector so that progress could be made on review of Drug Act 2017.

Representatives of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, Homeopathic and Chemist Association, Pakistan Chemist and Druggist Association, Pakistan Chemist Council, China Pharmacy Association, Pakistan Medical Council, All Pakistan Herbal Manufacture Association, Lahore Chemist Association and Distribution Associations called on Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Kh Salman Rafiq and Kh Imran Nazir at 90 Shahra-e-Quaid-e-Azam on Tuesday.

Both sides presented their viewpoint with regard to Amended Drug Act 2017. The ministers made it clear that the government would not compromise on the health of the people and provision of quality medicines to them. Provision of quality medicines to the masses is top priority of the government and legal action will be continued against black sheep in this sector, they added.

Provincial Minister for Information Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman said that government was serious in eliminating spurious medicines so that provision of quality medicines should be ensured to the people and their health be safeguarded. The representatives of the associations of drug manufacturing institutions related to health sector said that their organisations were with the Punjab government in the campaign for elimination of spurious drugs and added that spurious drugs manufacturers would not be tolerated at their platform.
