Two YDA doctors beaten up; services emergency closed
LAHORE: The young doctors closed emergency ward of the Services Hospital Monday night after an alleged attempt of picking two leaders of Young Doctors Association (YDA), Punjab.
It caused problems for the serious patients as their attendants were forced to take the patients to other nearby hospitals. According YDA leaders, two armed guards allegedly attempted to pick Dr Atif Chaudhry, senior vice president and Dr Salman Haseeb, information secretary, of YDA, Punjab, and beat them up on resistance.
However, the two doctors escaped the pickup attempt and the private guards escaped. Dr Atif was severely injured and was under treatment in the hospital.
The YDA leaders claimed that the government and health secretary had been using mean tactics of intimidating the young doctors and abstaining them from starting a ‘one-bed, one-patient’ campaign against the government.
