The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), in six countrywide operations carried out in various cities, recovered 19.4 kilograms of heroin and 990 kilograms of charas. The value of recovered drugs is Rs1.121 billion in international market.
The ANF arrested six persons involved in drug trafficking and seized 3 vehicles during the operations, the spokesman for the ANF (Headquarters) said here on Thursday.
The ANF Karachi Road Check Team on pursuance of an intelligence report, intercepted a Bedford Truck (AE-0041) near Toll Plaza, Super Highway, Karachi. During search of the vehicle, 990 kilograms of charas were recovered from the truck. The charas was packed in plastic bags and concealed under a layer of sacks containing cow food. The truck driver, Hashim Khan, hailing from Karachi, was arrested during the operation. As per initial investigations, charas was being brought from Peshawar and intended for Karachi for further distribution.
The ANF Karachi Airport Team during routine checking at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, held a passenger, Muhammad Mumtaz, resident of Lodharan, and recovered 1.01 kilograms of heroin from his possession. The heroin was contained in 133 capsules concealed in a sweet box. He was to fly to Bahrain by Gulf Airlines flight (No. GF-753).
The ANF Peshawar on pursuance of information stopped a Toyota Axio Car at Pishta Khara Chowk, Peshawar, and recovered 18 kilograms of heroin concealed in it. The heroin was concealed in a plastic bag hidden under the driver's seat. A drug trafficker, Haji Dil Jan, was arrested during the operation. According to details, the accused hails from Khyber Agency. As per reports, he was coming from Jamrud side and intended to smuggle heroin to Punjab.
The ANF Peshawar Airport Team, during routine profiling at Peshawar Airport, detained a passenger, Muhammad Wali, a resident of Peshawar. Detailed search of his luggage led to recovery of 6.4 kilograms of heroin. The heroin was tactfully concealed inside layers of his trolley bag. The accused intended to fly to Sharjah by Shaheen Airlines flight (No. NL-792).
The ANF Lahore Airport Team, acting on tip-off, raided Sky-net Express Courier Service at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, and recovered 360 grams of heroin from a UK-destined parcel. The heroin was tactfully concealed in the packing of frying pans. According to details, the parcel was being dispatched by Syed Ghulam Mustafa, a resident of Gujranwala, and was to be received by Wajid Ali, residing at Luton, UK. The ANF Rawalpindi, on pursuance of information, intercepted a Suzuki Carry (RIS-1446) at Tarlai Road, Islamabad, and apprehended two persons -- Muhammad Imran hailing from Islamabad and Atif Khushal -- from Rawalpindi. The operation resulted in recovery of 1.7 kilograms of charas from their possession. As per initial investigation, the accused are involved in peddling of drugs at local level.
Meanwhile, on information of ANF Intelligence Wing, Malaysian and Vietnamese authorities conducted 3 operations in their countries. During these operations, Vietnamese authorities recovered 5 kilograms of heroin from an Indonesian woman, whereas in two other operations, Malaysian Police seized 33 and 27 kilograms of methamphetamine separately at Kuala Lampur International Airport, Malaysia.
