The Sindh chief minister’s coordinator on human rights, Nadia Gabol, directed the police authorities in Malir on Thursday to provide extra security to schools, especially at opening and closing times.
She issued these directives during a public meeting held at the Hunter Football Stadium in Malir.
In a statement issued by her office on Thursday, Gabol directed the police officers to submit a comprehensive report regarding the security provided to primary and secondary schools in Malir and their current status.
On the occasion, she also ordered the education authorities to submit a list of teachers with their performances. Those who attended the public meeting included MPA Shahina Baloch, deputy commissioner Malir Kazim Jan Mohammad, District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Malir Administrator Rehmatullah Shaikh, SP Malir Dr Najeeb Khan and Bin Qasim Town Health Officer Dr Abdul Jabbar. The meeting was held on the directives of Sindh chief minister for addressing peoples’ grievances at their door steps.
Parents also voiced their apprehension about the security of their children at schools and called for security arrangements for their children.
Hundreds of residents, including women, also complained of poor facilities of sanitation and healthcare in the area. Gabol responded by directing the Malir’s deputy commissioner and DMC administrator to regularly monitor all sanitary inspectors and sweepers.
