MANSEHRA: Wibki Jonson, the country director of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), has asked people of Kohistan to provide equal educational opportunities to their female family members.
She was speaking at an open forum held at Red Crescent Hall in Dasu in Kohistan on Wednesday. The forum was largely attended by representatives of education, nongovernmental organisations, lawyers, journalists and government departments to discuss reasons behind low literacy rate among women in the district.
She said government departments and NGOs should put their all energies to promote women’s education in the district.Hafizur Rehman, the coordinator of NGO Alif Ailan, on occasion said that girls were not being given equal opportunities in education and other fields, which was the basic factor behind low education level of women in the district.
