ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi Wednesday wrote to Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq urging him to take notice of threats being given to him by Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali.

In a letter, the senior PTI leader claimed that Abid was openly issuing threats to attack his party chairman Imran Khan and him (Qureshi). He referred to the social media and reports appearing in mainstream national media. He pointed out that despite a meeting of the parliamentary leaders of the political parties, which was presided over by him (speaker) on January 30, the trend of hurling threats from the minister was continuing.

Qureshi noted that the series of threats was in total negation to a code of conduct, which was agreed among parliamentary party leaders at that meeting. He referred to Abid’s twitter message: “Both Imran and you would be on my radar in NA session. Get ready for PML-N Lions”. Qureshi said a report in this regard also appeared in The News on February 01 titled: Minister Abid warns Imran, Qureshi of physical attack.

Meanwhile, a PTI leader Andleeb Abbas has sought details, under the Right to Information Act, of installation of what she claims a 4.4 kilometre long boundary wall around Jati Umra, light towers and security lights at the private residence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif worth Rs3.644 billion and the premises has been made the Prime Minister’s Camp Office. She has asked this spending has been made by the government of Punjab.

She has also wanted to know, through a letter, to principal secretary of the prime minister as to why 2,700 police personnel have been deployed at Jati Umra. She seeks details of all the expenditure being incurred on the prime minister’s camp office. She referred to the salaries and food being provided to the personnel and the vehicles and their maintenance details and who is paying for all this.

Andleeb has asked the principal secretary to also share information as to how many camp offices have been established for the prime minister. She insisted that under the law, she has every right to be provided with the information she sought through the letter.
